Dice And Dominoes

Dice And Dominoes

Come observe it here at the borders of oblivion

The inexhaustible march of man's temporal parade
Whether Alexander, Constantine or Khan
Every conqueror contributed commonalities
Causality, consistency, conflicts, consequences.

Most men are low denomination dominoes

Simple pushovers that fall into formation
Bowing beneath the oppressive weight of history
Unquestioning participants for social experiments
Where inherent rules work against hard workers.

Yet although they be few, some roll like dice

Chancers clutching onto fine strands of probability
Fewer still are they who luck out and hit the jackpot
Of discovery or innovation—advancing civilization
Thinkers and tinkerers; Tesla, Turing, Elon Musk?

Argue against them (if you feel you must)

But only such visionaries see a shot clearly
Before taking it and hence leaping far ahead
Leaving the rest of us playing in a kid's sandbox
Forming a fortress settlement upon faulty sediment.

So which will you be:

Remembered by virtue of distinction?
Forgotten among these aimless masses?
Or overcome (frozen stiff with indecision)?
Tiles fall flat, but cognize: every toss revives a die!

Atheism: The Lesser of Two Evils?

Atheism: The Lesser of Two Evils?

Atheism is little more than an equal and opposite reaction to Theism
In clearer terms: its Antithesis.
Yet a dialectic should exist wherein these polar extremes may be reconciled.
Even if not, let us examine a couple of points of contention between them . . .

For one thing most Atheists claim to rely only on Science for insight into Reality.

However, it's often clear from their rhetoric that they haven't kept abreast of every recent development.

Fewer still seem to be aware that the founding fathers of Quantum Physics wrote some rather mystical essays while they struggled to make sense of their landmark scientific discoveries.

Albert Einstein, Max Planck, Werner Heisenberg and Erwin Schroedinger were hardly Atheistic
Just as Science isn't a static institution that has already answered our deepest questions.

Contrary to what many materialists and positivists think, a lot of these topics (e.g. the Hard problem of Consciousness) are still hotly debated within academic circles.

Furthermore, Consciousness Studies are newer fields of growing interest that keep on yielding significant findings.

Skeptics ignore groundbreaking research from pioneers such as David Chalmers, James H. Austin, Rick Strassman, and Roger Penrose—to name merely a handful of eminent mavericks.

In brief, some militant Atheists quote scientific 'scripture' only where it's convenient for them to do so in much the same way as their creationists counterparts.

Secondly, a common accusation that Atheists level against Religion is that it's responsible for centuries of bloodshed.

This is definitely true and (pardon the expression) heaven forbid any future resurgence of fundamentalist fervor.

Nonetheless, this is also an instance of the teapot calling the kettle black.

Indeed the notion that reason alone and  scientific progress derived therefrom can allay all the world's woes has already been proven fatally wrong.

We may even say that it proved most incorrect during the peak of the Industrial Revolution, which brought us the humanitarian horrors of World War I & II.

To be sure, Science has remained subservient to militarized globalism since then, which is presently known as Neoliberalism.

In Academia they call this mess the Failure of The Enlightenment, which ultimately gave rise to Modernity and Post-Modernism alike.

For you see—Science without a functional Ethical framework derived from Philosophy is devoid of compassion or (as scientists might prefer to refer to it) 'subjective bias'.

Again proponents of Atheism gloss over these facts not unlike Catholic Apologists downplaying the Spanish Inquisition.

Why? Simply because Atheism is yet another mental construct, perhaps even a dead end like any form of Theism could well turn out to be.

Human Beings must outgrow their basic need to choose exclusively from binary pairs.
Neither side is ever wholly right (or for that matter left)!
But if we take the entire extant spectrum of cognition into consideration then other options start becoming apparent.
Could future generations attain a balance twixt immaterial mind and tangible matter?

Querulous Quanta

Querulous Quanta

Where hath thou gone, entangled phantom particle?

Our magnetic dipoles now spin out of sync
Once we were non-local as well as atemporal
Transcending bounds of space-time continuum
Yet liminal constraints inhibit subatomic orbits
Macroscopic systems become subject to entropy
Force of ill-bred habits subdues all organisms
Thought overtakes Consciousness by quantity not quality
Feeling lost within false realms — stunted, numb and mute
Entities must learn transmutation from raw elements to highest Ether

It is presently passing; make good on this opportunity or else be extinguished!

Logos Endiathetos

Logos Endiathetos

Far enough back, during ages interred beneath historical sediment
Mankind hailed the transcendent, immanent Godhead
By regarding nature with an utmost degree of respect.

Mountains, forests, oceans, lakes and streams were held sacrosanct.
Likewise, animals were considered divine harbingers and close kith
While innocence afforded us glimpses of ineffable absolutes.

Still, it gradually came to pass that men grew leery of each other...
Avaricious and fratricidal, they turned against one another
Christening barbarism a new virtue.
Yea, from that time forth every war has involved
Pillaging rival nations, ravaging their virgins, and torturing captives.

Having shed all compassion for his fellow hominids
Homo Erectus went on to domineer wild beasts
Touted "Steward of Earth" by vainglorious priests.

Homo Habilis followed suit; inventing flint implements
Which at first served as tools and then later as armaments
When Cro-Magnon slew Neanderthal, clearing way for we Sapiens.

Such were the days of our youth, obscured now by pretended civility.
For we're loathe to admit that we've hardly hit puberty
Believing that we scale the very peaks of humanity.
Adept with legalese and the boons of technology
Yet inept in affairs that require any sympathy.

Knowing naught about providence but presumptuous theology
And estranged from the blatantly obvious reality:
To venerate one's own neighbor—is quintessentially holy!

The veil has been rent in the Sanctum Sanctorum
(little hope is there left for regaining decorum).
Lo, a world midst its throes of thermal shockwave alarum!

Post-Modern Post-Mortem

Post-Modern Post-Mortem

Philosophy is hardly a fashion show
People speak with finality about "trends in theory"
Claiming that we have outgrown certain key perspectives
When theorists had not been analysing their own eras, but ours!

This failure to acknowledge the prescience of gifted forerunners
Has led into blind alleys where a distrust of Meta-Narratives reigns
Yet little serious consideration is given to any Ludic Telos
In other words, an open ended inter-PLAY that we must each embrace in order to skip through semantic minefields.

Signifier and Signified are synchronous but not synonymous
Wherefore various qualia arise in one's mind along with labels;
Apparent percept-objects and relativistic moral judgments.
Whomsoever missed this is missing inaction and should meditate:

Come to know that ⍓︎□︎◆︎❒︎wingding⍓︎□︎◆︎❒︎ words warp cognition
Everything now occurring is a product of condition
A trap we can avoid by asking quantum questions
To constantly redefine the old Copenhagen Interpretation.
