Makwil Cuetzpalin (rare trilingual edition)

Makwil Cuetzpalin

E aqui Tonal

(un destino propio)

El mero proposito de esta existencia.

Hoy mismo se quebrara la primer regla

Ante todas las demas:

Si no sabes cual

Pues es porque no

Investigas suficientemente;

El numero cinco ha sido y siempre sera

Gran pentametro

De nuestra quintaesencia comun —

Un nombre del hombre en exilio desde Eden.

And on the fifth stave

An immense, jet-black Aquila hatched

From gone feathered serpent's crystalline egg.

Et le lendemain soir

Il est monte au clair de lune

Apres le coucher du soleil ...

Tonatiuh bajo

Al inframundo ~ en su puesto subio otro.

Con llamas tan agudas, que hasta siegan los malvados!

[ Nahual ItzQuauhtli sembro el sexto sol ]

Day-sign Macuilli Cuetzpalin (fifth lizard) corresponds to the author's date of birth.

Prometheus

Poor Prometheus, a figure to be pitied!
All he did was bring the spark to mankind;
rare gift wrought in the observation deck.
Knowing the ways of people, they probably
took the gift with barely any gratitude,
immediately making a kill and cooking.
Turning their backs on the abject figure
(without so much as a half-formed smile)
who even now reclines on a stone, waiting
for Zeus' Eagle to finish its course yet again ...

Ye Gods, What Are Thee? (Mythic May Vol. 11)

"Light and matter are both single entities, and the apparent duality arises in the limitations of our language."

"There is a fundamental error in separating the parts from the whole, the mistake of atomizing what should not be atomized. Unity and complementarity constitute reality."

"The existing scientific concepts cover always only a very limited part of reality, and the other part that has not yet been understood is infinite."

~ Werner Heisenberg

Ye Gods, What Are Thee?

Who be the gods and goddesses, if not we?

They are fundamental archetypes within the Zero-Point-Field.

A Priori noumena underlying A Posteriori phenomena.

Resounding echoes from past and parallel universes.

Constantly collapsing wave functions of quantum potential.

Luminous forms coalescing within our Ethereal Noosphere.

Celestial bodies vibrating at subliminal frequencies.

Intelligence beyond thought; knowledge needing no words.

Neuronal apprehension of supramundane comprehension.

Primordial Buddhas awakening to their own intrinsic transcendence ...

Soham - Tat Tvam Asi!

Axis Mundi (Mythic May Vol. 10)

"History is ending because the dominator culture has led the human species into a blind alley, and as the inevitable chaostrophie approaches, people look for metaphors and answers ... what we need is a new myth, what we need is a new true story that tells us where we're going in the universe and that true story is that the ego is a product of pathology ..."

~ Terence McKenna

Axis Mundi

Oh Enkidu — lead us lost humans
Back to those ancient forests
Beyond these cities' woes
Mankind be won by nature!

For we've seen from space
The damage we're wreaking
Upon Gaia's gorgeous face
A virus threatens humanity's place

Our technology ought to be wed
To the ecology, 'til all are fed
So that we might learn by analogy
The actual function of spiritual symbology

As it stands, nothing is sacred
Virgin mother desecrated, splayed naked
How can anything evolve in isolation?
Mistaken domination brings about damnation!

Lo Enkidu — we humans verge on extinction
There's not enough identifying (only distinction)
Poetry is powerless to move
People who refuse to improve.

Vedic vs. Tantric Hinduism (Mythic May Vol. 8)

Vedic vs. Tantric Hinduism

Author's Note: This article is in reference to The Soma Tantra

Differences and disagreements among religious factions don't necessarily indicate that spiritual truths aren't real, but that we as humans can't communicate them very well.

If you study any religion enough (whether Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism) you soon discover that even within its own canonical corpus, few theologians can see eye to eye.

'Hinduism' as such is a blanket term for several strains of Indian philosophy that focus on particular deities and what they represent, without much in the way of uniformity.

Some Hindu sects reflect the Vedic caste system brought by Aryan invaders while others represent the Tantric traditions of Indus Valley Dravidians.

Historically, a process known as religious syncretism (merging) occurred between these Vedic and Dravidian denominations; giving rise to the rich panoply of Hindu polytheism.

Since 'Hinduism' bears the influence of disparate schools of thought, some sociological friction between its Vedic and Tantric strains still exists.

Class struggles borne out by the Varna caste system (as well as between various ethnic groups) definitely appear to be hidden within the subtext of Hindu mythology.

For example, Brahma and Vishnu usually exemplify Aryan-Vedic ideals and morals whereas Shiva and Kali are Tantric-Dravidian forces of unrestrained freedom.

Devotees of Vishnu are thus referred to as Vaishnavaswhile Shiva's followers are called Shaivas, Shaivites, or Siva Sadhus. Shakti (the divine feminine) actually outweighs Brahma (a patriarchal creator god) in this Eastern schema.

Analogously, this competition between Vedic and Tantric ways of thinking / acting was also mirrored by the ancient Greeks with their Apollo-Dionysus dichotomy. Indeed, Nietzche extrapolated it to full effect in his seminal debut: The Birth of Tragedy. Even renown Indologist Alain Danielou documented it extensively in a very fine piece of comparative religion: Gods of Love and Ecstacy.

The Soma Tantra is a contemporary work of Mythic fiction that portrays said friction between Vedic and Tantric branches of Hinduism as a war upon the moon between the Devatas and Ashuras (gods and demons, respectively).

Only those capable of delving beneath the surface of such a fantastic tale will see through to the deepest layer of its abstracted narrative...

Meditating On The Fields of Naraka (Mythic May Vol. 7)

Meditating On The Fields of Naraka

Skandha, son of Shiva Mahadeva, sits firmly lodged in samadhi
Awoken to the harsh reality of suffering amid ephemeral qualia
A world set ablaze by impure desires and all our best intentions
Charnels filled with piled-up corpses felled in war, famine or plague
Endless transmigration of finite souls learning lessons for ascension

During darkest times concentrate on those awful fields of Naraka
Pain is a purifier, an agent of both Karma and Dharma
Everything experienced is reciprocal; always balancing out
No one is altogether righteous or evil, innocent or to blame
This plenum of open-ended possibilities refines sentient beings

Cosmic Christ within is perpetually nailed onto crosses
Transcending death despite misleading appearances
Skandha bearing heat from flames, transmutes it to bliss
Defying, nay, reifying unassailable natural laws
Cracked universal egg making way for the phoenix...

Balam Ahau (Lord Jaguar) Mythic May Vol. 6

Balam Ahau

Mounted on horseback with arms across chest
It suddenly dawned
That Jaguar as worshipped by the Toltecs
Was an ideal.
A visionary fusion of all that is noble in ape
And feline alike.

Unmitigated ferocity plus stealthy mobility
Granted by Totemic beasts;
Unflinchingly attentive reptile, crafty coyote
Chimeric eclipsed sun
Whose illustrious wingspan brightens emblazoned
Against the moon.

Prowling through mortality with vigilance
Every act dignified
Growling only when necessity dictates
Amidst backdrops espied
Trailing ziggurat lightning ricochets off
Edges of mind!

ItzQuauhtli's Prophecy

ItzQuauhtli's Prophecy

Forged in Tonatiuh's heart, his feathers were slates of antimatter

ItzQuauhtli was recognized as a reflection of Great Cosmic Eagle

Which North-American Natives called: Thunderbird.

Analogous to Horus in Egyptian lore; whose eyes are equally solar and lunar.

Or Garuda in Hinduism, with Vishnu riding atop his back.

Like Mercury (closest to the sun) he served as a messenger.

The Aztecs associated this Eagle with Huitzilopochtli — god of war and patron of the arts.

Sent to Earth late during the Fifth age, he heralded Quetzalcoatl's return

While also warning that it would come hand-in-hand with Tezcatlipoca's release ...

For the nine lords of Xibalba known as Bolon Yokte are present at both the beginning and end of time!

The Four Tezcatlipocas (Mythic May Vol. 3)

The Four Tezcatlipocas

Aztec legends relate that Ometeotl
———Lord and Lady pair
———the original creator
Had four sons who sat at each corner of our young cosmos.
These newborn deities were dubbed Tezcatlipoca (smoking mirrors)
Not unlike the veil of illusion, which the Hindu Vedas call Maya.

To the East stood Quetzalcoatl; Feathered Serpent, whose face shone white.
From deep South came Huitzilopochtli; Hummingbird Sorcerer and blue-faced warrior.
Westward arrived Xipe Totec; Flayed Lord of agriculture whom bore a bloody visage.
From far North came Tezcatlipoca proper; black in aspect and with a dark soul to match.

Back then, the Earth was covered by primordial waters where a crocodile named Cipactli swam.
Black Tezcatlipoca even lost a leg to Cipactli when he was trying to seed the planet
So the four brothers made an aquatic god (Tlaloc) and goddess (Chalchiuhtlicue) to reign over the deeps.
Tamed by these siblings, the oceans receded and dry land was then populated with giants.

During the first age Tezcatlipoca himself became the sun, but his light was far too dim.
Quetzalcoatl could not tolerate his poor lighting and so knocked him out of the sky.
Incensed———Tezcatlipoca unleashed a horde of mighty Jaguars into the world.
Since night had befallen, the giants of that first age were hunted to extinction!

In the second age Quetzalcoatl beamed from above, having created a new folk.
His people were not very tall but over time they began thinking too highly of themselves.
Because they took the gods for granted, Tezcatlipoca turned them into monkeys.
Disliking their transformation, Quetzalcoatl descended as Lord Huracan (the hurricane) and blew them all away!

A third age dawned during which Tlaloc rose to illuminate the days of another race.
Unfortunately, Tezcatlipoca moved in on his wife Xochiquetzal, the goddess of love.
Seeing this made Tlaloc jealous and he refused to irrigate any crops down below.
Everybody cried out for relief from this dreadful drought but rather vengeful, Tlaloc hailed fire instead!

Consequently, Earth needed to be remade in the fourth age from the third era's ashes.
Hence, Chalchiuhtlicue ascended to give off her luminescence.
Yet ever a scoundrel, callous Tezcatlipoca accused her of vainglory.
Heartbroken by his persistent critique, that world was drowned in her divine tears!

Finally, Quetzalcoatl descended to the Earth's core as big black ant and retrieved grains of sacred corn.
Dousing them with his own blood, he created humankind as we know ourselves.
Meanwhile warlike Huitzilopochtli arose to heaven and became a fifth sun.
Then Tezcatlipoca convinced us that bloodletting should be our repayment...

Wars raged upon Terra Firma for millennia in the name of one god or another.
Quetzalcoatl vanished, betrayed by his evil twin brother, yet vowing to return.
Xipe Totec's veins were gradually drained by bloodthirsty inhumanity.
Sanctity is nowhere to be seen now since cynical people shun any gods whatsoever.

However, Huitzilopochtli is also a patron of the arts and he desires Metanoia.
If we can transcend life's rigors through sheer artistry then there still may be hope left for us.
Only such Toltec artisans could summon Quetzalcoatl and might even revive Xipe Totec.
Otherwise, cruel Tezcatlipoca surely has many more upheavals in store for us during the sixth sun called Tonatiuh.

Mythos (Mythic May Vol. 1)

Mythic May: Every Friday this month will feature a tributary piece to Mythos, Mother of Religion and eternal wellspring of sacred imagery.

Mythos

Like Shadrach in the sacrificial furnace
He strides through all flame as a phantom
Exalted by the hamadryad chorus
With a heartbeat that cowers lofty Titans
When stirred to a passionate frenzy
He claws at the roots of Ygdrasil

His twin sister mimics these motions
Her gilded arms undulate on the wind
Extolled through the song of Hesperides
With laughter becalms their green dragon
When pushed to the other extreme
She calls for the maids of Valhalla

He lives in the sword of a king

She sleeps in the depths of a lake

He dies at the end of one world

And into a new one she wakes.
